Performance of the True Coincidence Correction Method in GammaVision
نویسنده
چکیده
Some nuclides emit multiple gamma rays or X-rays when they decay to the ground state. If these gamma rays and X-rays are emitted essentially at the same time, it is possible that multiple photons will be detected at the same time in the detector and appear as one full-energy peak in the spectrum. This is known as “Cascade” or “True Coincidence” summing. The most common example of this is Co, where the 1173 and 1332 keV gamma ray peaks are emitted in cascade and can sum to become the 2505 keV gamma ray peak. This True Coincidence Summing has two effects, one is the reduction of the net peak count in the individual component peaks in the cascade. The second is the creation (or increase) of the extra peaks in the spectrum of the summation of the individual peaks. Both of these can cause the spectrum analysis to give erroneous results.

Role of smile correction in mineral detection on hyperion data
This work aims to extract the mineralogical constituents of the Lahroud Hyperion scene situated in the NW of Iran. Like the other push-broom sensors, Hyperion images suffer from spectral distortions, namely the smile effect. The corresponding spectral curvature is defined as an across-track wavelength shift from the nominal central wavelength, and alters the pixel spectra. The common “column me...

متن کاملDetermination of the Energy Windows for the Triple Energy Window Scatter Correction Method in Gadolinium-159 Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography Using Monte Carlo Simulation
Introduction: In radionuclide imaging, object scatter is one of the major factors leading to image quality degradation. Therefore, the correction of scattered photons might have a great impact on improving the image quality. Regarding this, the present study aimed to determine the main and sub-energy windows for triple energy window (TEW) scatter correction method usin...
متن کاملA comparative study of quantitative mapping methods for bias correction of ERA5 reanalysis precipitation data
This study evaluates the ability of different quantitative mapping (QM) methods as a bias correction technique for ERA5 reanalysis precipitation data. Climate type and geographical location can affect the performance of the bias correction method due to differences in precipitation characteristics. For this purpose, ERA5 reanalysis precipitation data for the years 1989-2019 for 10 selected syno...
متن کاملNew Method of Quality Control Test for Light and Radiation Field Coincidence in Medical Linear Accelerators
Introduction: The evaluation of X-ray and light field coincidence in linear accelerators as a quality control test is often performed subjectively, involving the manual marking of films and their visual inspection following the irradiation. Therefore, the present study aimed to develop an objective method for the performance of this test leading to the increased levels...
